Job Description :

This position is for a system engineer or system administrator to provide Front Line Engineering/Tier 2 support for TU infrastructure.

Operational System Support- Provide support for TU systems.   This includes monitoring and improving monitoring of these systems; responding to and ensuring resolution of operational issues reported by site personnel,  24X7 Monitoring centers, Tier 1 support, dataflow groups, and end users; and providing feedback to development engineers on how to improve stability and supportability.    May also assist with installations, upgrades, and patches and ensure system is operating as expected after these actions.
                                                                       

Desired  Skills & Experience:

  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting HW/Network/OS issues on large, diverse mission processing systems
  • Redhat Linux OS Knowledge (Rh4.3 and above
  • Working knowledge of Linux based systems to include, but not limited to, ssh, scp, pki key infrastructure, kickstart, DNS, and rpm
  • RHCE preferred, RHCT minimum required
  • Linux storage volume, both logical and physical
  • VNC server as a mechanism to remote into systems
  • Linux as it relates to Dell hardware platforms – hardware drivers i.e. SAS drives, interface drivers
  • SE Linux understanding (part of RHEL 4.x)
  • General Linux System Administration knowledge
  • VERITAS Cluster Server
  • Minimum configuration knowledge
  • VMware ESX knowledge
  • ESX 3.0.1, 3.5 and later
  • Creation and configuration of virtual machines
  • Understanding of virtual environment to include virtual switches, interface and storage (both local and external)
  • VI Client interface for VMware to reach into the ESX server to manage virtual machines
  • VMware Server as it relate to reaching into the VMs from kickstart server locally

Education:  Candidate must meet the education requirements in the labor category.  Six years over the required years experience substitute for the BS requirement.  Certifications and AA degrees count as 1 year experience each.
